What Happened??

Concordians mourn the downward spiral of this restaurant. Bring back the lady who cared about customers and service. Diners need friendly, timely service, not moodiness and poor service. |
Potential of greatness.

Dropped the Ball
by Brad on February 14th, 2009 on Koto Japanese Steak House |
| My wife and I went here this evening for supper. We have eaten here many times in the past and never had an issue. We ordered hibachi fillet mignon. The steak was too tough and chewy to eat. I ate about 4 of the small pieces and my wife ate 3 or 4. That was enough to make your jaw hurt. So I tell the waitress (who was great the entire night). She goes and tells the manager/owner and he says "Sorry it was tough but it is still 17.95 a plate." I asked to speak with him. He was very rude. He mentioned that we ordered it cooked too done. We ordered it medium and some of it was overly done. He said the cook might have overcooked it but still wanted us to pay. He also stated that maybe we would like the cheaper steak as if we did not know what fillet should be like. Remember, the plates were still full, we did not even eat the rice. He then sends a waitress out to our table with a plate full of the raw fillet to show us. I did not care about the steak. He offers to take 50% of the bill off, which is still not right, but I was so mad i was ready to leave so i paid it. While waiting on the check, he brings an entire loin out to our table to argue some more about his steak. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant in my life. I will never go back. I literraly just walked in the door and had to write this to warn others before it is too late. I would like to add though if it was not for the wait staff, he would not have given us any break on the bill at all. To sum it up, it was a great valentines dinner...Sorry for the long post, thanks for reading it though. |

Not for Dominicanos
by Feliciato on February 13th, 2009 on La Regia Latina |
| The short- if you are looking for good Dominican fare- keep looking - The long- stopped in for lunch- empty of course-ordered Chicharon de pollo con papa fritas- Crispy chicken w/french fries-I am Dominican so this is a good simple Dominican dish- good to judge the quality of the food and its preparation- I was amazed that I was charged 12 dollars- when I asked about the lunch specials, I was told there were none for the Dominican food-hmmmmmmm- so anyway- the chicken was definitely prepared Dominican style- tasty and delicious- the fries were unremarkable- however, the chicken consisted of 2 legs chopped into small pieces, with a small side salad- 2 tomato slices, lettuce and 2 slices of avocado- for 12 dollars- it was a complete and total rip-off and a major disappointment. I imagine the waitress took me as a gringo since I purposely spoke English only. She did try to sell me Mexican dishes, which were clearly cheaper, as opposed to the requested Dominican fare I ordered. I will not be returning to this place if I have a taste for Dominican food. I do plan on returning in a day or so to sample the Mexican cooking. Again, beware of the prices for the Dominican food- loony tunes type prices for simple food. Service was good and food quickly prepared, but again, remember, it was noon and the place was empty. Located in Durham on SC route 54 in the middle of nowhere, this place is definitely aimed for the Mexican/Chicano crowd with the Dominican fare thrown in as an after-thought. |
Absolutly the best! Once you go you
by Dave on February 12th, 2009 on Whitley's Restaurant Incorporated |

Whitley's has fantastic barbecue. They still slow cook their pork on a hickory fired pit, the old fashoned way, unlike many who have now gone to electric cookers. They are now serving ribs and steak. Their steaks are the best I've had anywhere. Hand cut, 16oz ribeyes with their special rub, grilled to perfection on an open flame and served up with all the trimmings, tossed salad, baked potato or fries and texas toast. They serve, without a doubt, the best steaks you'll find anywhere, hands down. If you like steak, you'll love Whitley's. If you've never eaten at Whitley's do yourself a favor and go! You, like my wife and I, will be new fans. They are open from 6am to 9pm every day of the week. Check out their web page: www.whitleysbbq.com for their menu items and incredabily fair prices. |
Great Job!
by Amanda on February 9th, 2009 on Wilmington Tea Room |
| I went to the tea room on Sunday for a lovely experience with my friends. We were there and another table near us was so loud and so rude. It was difficult for us to have a good time. I was so thrilled when the owner asked them to leave. they were so surely and yelling that they would blow up the internet with rudeness, but the tea room does not deserve this at all!! The employees are wonderful, the food, the tea, the atmosphere. I love it! I'll be back soon! |

| Food was okay, however the owners daughter who ran the place was short tempered and very rude.... Very spolied. Too bad she came back from Florida and ran her mothers business into the ground..... |
